De Pere 2010 Soccer Boosters Scholarship application form
Mission:
The DePere Redbird Soccer Booster Scholarship was established in the spring of 2006 to honor key contributors to our Soccer Program.
The scholarship is available to De Pere High School Soccer Players and key students who have made a significant contribution to the development and success of the soccer program. The scholarship is designed to aid in a student’s pursuit of higher education. The scholarship is to be granted to students entered in a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree program. The program is based on a total one-time award of $500.00 scholarship for a male student and a total one-time award of $500.00 scholarship for a female student. The DePere Redbird Soccer Boosters Club reserves the right to review the scholarship program annually.
Scholarship Criteria:
1) Any graduating senior at DePere high school involved in the soccer program is eligible. Parents are not eligible.
2) Must have been involved in the DePere high school soccer program for at least 1 year.
3) Minimum GPA requirement is a 2.5 GPA out of 4.0.
4) High school seniors intending to enroll in a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree programs may apply.
5) Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and a permanent resident of Wisconsin.
6) Applicant must be verified by the Athletic Director’s office as being free from any co-curricular code violations during the past four (4) years.
Application Process and Key Dates
1. Application will be available via the De Pere Redbird Soccer Boosters Club Website (redbirdsoccer.com/) or De Pere High School Counseling Office after March.
2. Submit the application to De Pere High School Counseling Office with a postmark or date stamp no later than April 2, 2010. The Soccer Booster Coordinator will not be a parent of a Senior Soccer Player. Soccer Booster Coordinator will sort the applications by male and female; remove names and forward to the review committee.
3. Applicants must complete the application and request the counseling office to attach the copy of their first semester senior high school transcript.
4. Application includes essay of a minimum of 500 words with a maximum of 1000 words to be completed by the applicant on one of the following:
- The effect that soccer has had on my life.
- What soccer has meant to me?
- The role soccer has played in my life
5. Applications must be submitted and postmarked by April 2, 2010.
6. Scholarship winners will be announced at the May Senior Scholarship Assembly.
7. Payment to the student will be made following completion of his/her 1st semester.
A copy of the first college semester transcript should be submitted to the De Pere Redbird Soccer Boosters and payment will be made to the student and the education institution.
Review Process
An independent committee from the De Pere Highs School Parent’s Club will review the applications. Committee members are non-senior parents or parents with no eligible applicants for this scholarship. Names will be removed by the Soccer Scholarship Coordinator and forwarded to the independent committee. The essays will only be noted as being from a male or female. After every member of the committee reads all the applications, they will be ranked and the top male and female candidate will be selected. Criteria will be based on academics and the soccer essay.
